Elaisha Stokes

Elaisha Stokes is an award winning freelance journalist and documentary filmmaker based in New York. Her stories have been published in The New York Times, Monocle Magazine and the CBC. In addition to receiving funding from the Investigative Fund, her most recent film, Faile Street, was honored with a 2013 Columbia-DuPont award and received funding from the Emmy Foundation and the Patsy Pulitzer Documentary Fund. Elaisha currently divides her time between New York and Congo, where she is shooting a feature documentary on an all women's journalism collective. Stokes holds a master's degree from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism. She also holds a BS from the University of British Columbia and a second master's degree from Ryerson University. Last Updated July 2017
