PSA for our devoted and would-be supporters: If you donate to The Investigative Fund between right now and the end of December, your gift will be matched, dollar-for-dollar, up to $1000 per person. We were invited to participate in the Newsmatch campaign, which is funded by the Democracy Fund, John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, and the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. Help us make a good impression — donate now!

You’re already on our website, so you must have some small scrap of regard for the work we do, but in case you need actual reasons, here are a few:

—We made this informative database with 9 years of data about domestic terror incidents, revealing that right-wing extremists were responsible for nearly twice as many plots and terror acts as Islamists.

—We do piercing coverage of the alt-right, and have been doing it before folks knew what the term meant. Plus we had feet on the ground in Charlottesville.

—We got our hands on a leaked draft of Trump’s executive order on “religious freedom,” which was credited with halting an order so expansive it would have legalized discrimination against LGBTQ people and people who have premarital sex.

—We investigated the disproportionate corporate influence on Scott Pruitt’s EPA, abuse by Border Patrol agents and ethnic cleansing in South Sudan.

And all of that is just in the past year.

Still need another reason?

Well, we’re also a lean and mean operation, which means that 90 percent of our funding goes straight to our journalism. And we partner with a wide array of outlets, so if you support our work, you are magnifying the impact of independent investigative reporting.

If you’re in the investigative journalism world, chances are also that you heard one of our esteemed editors speak at a panel or maybe even had your copy improved by one of us. If you were impressed by your interaction, please donate. (Actually, please give us your money regardless.)

Fair warning: This may not be the last time you hear from us this year. Want us to stop bugging you? DONATE!

Thanks in advance for your generosity!
